With the next iPhone 17 Pro series, Apple could be preparing for its most significant camera update yet. An unnamed insider revealed to MacRumors that the next Pro iPhones will include several additional photography features.
The Slovenian production firm Division Film is said to have filmed the device’s ad, which the source claims to be aware of. Apple is even listed as a customer of the firm. MacRumors claims that the information hasn’t been independently confirmed, though.
According to reports, the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to feature a new telephoto lens with an optical zoom of up to 8×. This is one of the most notable enhancements. This represents a significant improvement over the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s existing 5× magnification, providing consumers with greater freedom when photographing distant scenes.
According to reports, the new lens would feature continuous zoom capabilities across a range of focal lengths, thereby increasing its versatility and bringing it closer to resembling DSLRs.
Additionally, a specialised pro camera app is allegedly on the horizon from Apple. The software is expected to compete with third-party apps like Halide and Filmic Pro, and will include sophisticated picture and video features. Whether this software will be available only on the iPhone 17 Pro series or on prior models is yet unknown.
Even more unexpectedly, Apple may be adding a second camera control button to the top edge of the phone.
Although a new app is being discussed, the insider also suggests that Apple may decide to provide a significant update for its current Final Cut Pro Camera app.
According to the source, the iPhone 17 Pro would have a new copper-like surface and possibly a centred Apple logo on the back in addition to improved cameras.
