The Gorilla Armour display protection is used by both the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Apart from enhancing durability, Gorilla Armour significantly lessens screen glare. It appears that Apple may join the anti-glare movement later this year.
According to a “reliable source” spotted by SamMobile, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will feature screens with anti-reflective, scratch-resistant glass. Unfortunately, this feature is not expected to be available for the regular iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Air.
We’ve heard rumours that Apple might be imitating Samsung in this area before. This rumour was first reported to us in March 2024. However, in April, a MacRumors source pointed out that Apple might have cancelled it for the iPhone 17 line due to yield issues. It appears that the supplier to Apple has now enhanced production to a level where it is truly usable.
In any case, it appears that Apple is embracing anti-glare technology for iPhones, which we find encouraging. However, we hope that this is only the start and that more smartphone manufacturers will soon use these coatings.
