Samsung might bring this camera feature to the cheaper Galaxy A17, details leaked.

The Galaxy A16 was launched in October, and Samsung is now working on its successor, the Galaxy A17. A new rumor out of Korea today has some good news for those looking forward to the release of this model.

According to reports, the Galaxy A17’s primary camera will have optical image stabilisation (OIS). Previously exclusive to flagships, this is now making its way down Samsung’s Galaxy A series of midrange devices, and now it’s making its way down to its entry-level devices. It is reported that Samsung is considering using an OIS system that uses springs, which is allegedly 20% cheaper than existing OIS systems.

Currently, OIS can be found as low as the Galaxy A2x series, with the A26 being the most recent device to feature the technology. By adding OIS to the Galaxy A17, Samsung intends to differentiate itself from its competition and increase sales. This may or may not work, but we’re glad to see such features now available on low-end phones like this, which were once only found on flagships.
