The Galaxy S26 series from Samsung may signal a significant change in smartphone functionality. According to a recent report, the S26 series could be equipped with 16 GB of RAM. If verified, that would double the amount of RAM present in current iPhones and indicate a significant effort by Samsung to gain a dominant position in AI and multitasking software.

The assertion, posted on X by tipster @Jukanlosreve and originating from Macquarie Research, calls for a uniform 16GB RAM setup for all S26 models starting in early 2026. In comparison, the Galaxy S25 series only arrives with 16GB in a few Asian territories (such as China and South Korea), with the other models sticking at 12GB.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst, notes that iOS remains more memory-efficient, suggesting that Apple relies less on RAM space. Yet, Samsung’s possible 16GB upgrade would be a significant differentiation, particularly as Android grows increasingly AI-powered. In certain areas, Samsung may continue to use 12GB for basic and Plus versions, saving the full 16GB treatment for the S26 Ultra.

It remains to be seen if a 16GB RAM bump would be sufficient to surpass Apple’s highly optimised iPhones, but Samsung seems prepared to showcase its capabilities once more.
