Google’s custom chips have found a new home. Digi Times reports that Google is working with TSMC to manufacture its Tensor processors for future Pixel phones.

According to reports, the agreement will last between three and five years. If everything goes according to plan, TSMC will manufacture Tensor chips for the Pixel 10 and Pixel 14.

There is a lot at stake here. Samsung Foundry has been Google’s preferred vendor since the original Tensor chip debuted. However, Google is taking a step in the right direction since Samsung Foundry is facing yield issues with its own Exynos 2500 SoC.

The Pixel 10 will feature TSMC’s first chip, the Tensor G5. It will be manufactured using TSMC’s N3E process, a more advanced version of the 3nm node.

This process should improve performance, power consumption, and thermal efficiency compared to Samsung’s 4nm process for the Tensor G4—all the things that have been criticised about Google’s chips.
