Sony will launch the Xperia 1 VII on May 13. Leaked promotional materials and images ahead of the event have already confirmed a number of key features. When you order the phone, you can choose from black, green, or purple.

Sony Xperia 1 VII:

The new Sony Xperia 1 VII will sport the same 6.5″ 4K HDR LTPO OLED panel on the front. It will even come with a 120Hz refresh rate along with HDR10+ and 10-bit color depth support. It also features a TRILUMINOS Display for mobile, X-Reality for mobile, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the front and back of the device. There is also a 240 Hz touch sampling rate and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The new Sony Xperia 1 VII is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC coupled with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB/512GB storage space. It also supports microsd cards. The phone has a Game Enhancer, an FPS Optimiser, and a vapour chamber for better gaming performance.

It will feature triple rear cameras: 48MP (f/1.9) 1/1.3.5″ Exmor T with Zeiss main, 12MP 1/2.5” Exmor T ultra-wide with f/2.3 aperture, and 12MP Exmor T periscopic telephoto lens with 60x lossless zoom. The device has 16mm ultra-wide, 24mm wide, and 70-200mm telephoto lenses. In addition, the phone offers Auto Framing, which captures wide and close-up shots simultaneously while following the subject. With AI Camera Work, the subject is kept centred while the video is stabilised. Dual Video Mode combines both for smoother footage.

It gets 7.1x Optical zoom with RGB-IR and OIS support. The rear camera can record 4K HDR movies in 24, 25, 30, 60, and 120fps slow-motion. It also gets Optical SteadyShot with FlawlessEye 14 and SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode (5-axis stabilization) support. There is a 1/2.9” Exmor sensor 12MP selfie camera on the front. The device also gets ZEISS T* coating and Real-Time Eye AF (Human, Animal).

It runs on Android 15 OS with Sony UI on top. It is packed with a 5000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging and Qi Wireless charging support. Sony’s Xperia 1 VI features a new speaker module and a larger shutter button than its predecessor.

It measures 8.2mm thick, weighs 192g, and has IP65 and IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance. Like most flagship phones, this phone can withstand water submersion, but it’s also tested for water jets. Thanks to Battery Care and Xperia Adaptive Charging, the battery can be recharged 50% in 30 minutes with a 30W charger.

The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with 4G, 5G, LTE, and VoLTE support, Wifi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, A-GPS, NFC, GLONASS, USB Type-C port, and 3.5 mm audio jack. The device comes with stereo speakers with DSEE HX, LDAC, and Dolby Atmos support.

Sony Walkman support:

Sony’s Xperia 1 VII prioritizes audio—both wired and wireless headphones support high-resolution sound. Sony’s DSEE Ultimate AI technology improves audio quality, especially from compressed files. Additionally, it supports the LDAC codec for better wireless streaming. With the improvements to the front-facing stereo speakers, you now get 10% more sound pressure in the low-to-mid frequency range—components from Sony’s Walkman line power the audio system.
