After the stable version of One UI 7 was released, Samsung now offers a beta version based on Android 16 for its devices. According to the company, this solution combines multimodal capabilities, a UX tailored to different device form factors, and personalised, proactive suggestions.
New features:
In addition, One UI 8 is designed to recognise the user’s context, enabling it to offer tailored and proactive suggestions. ‘Now Bar’ and ‘Now Brief’ will provide tailored insights and recommendations based on curated AI information, supporting task management.
Users will also have the option of keeping data on-device, since many Galaxy AI features will combine on-device and cloud AI processing. With this personalised AI, the company emphasises transparency and user choice as core principles.
One UI 8 will also introduce several features aimed at enhancing everyday convenience. Using Bluetooth LE Audio, Auracast will enable audio connections via QR code scanning and sharing. Auracast-compatible devices, such as Galaxy Buds3 and hearing aids, can join a shared audio stream without complex configuration.
With QR- and NFC-enabled support, customer support at Samsung Account repair centres will also be enhanced. Users can register for service using QR codes or NFC, potentially reducing wait times and simplifying service requests.
The reminder will be updated with a redesigned user interface, especially for tasks such as travel planning. To-do lists can be shared, reminders can be managed centrally, and voice commands can be used to add reminders.
The Quick Share feature is also set to streamline file sharing. Sending and receiving files is as easy as tapping the Quick Share button in the Quick settings panel.
Roll-out Schedule:
Starting today, May 28th, the Samsung One UI 8 beta program is available for Galaxy S25 series devices in Korea, the US, the UK, and Germany. Samsung Galaxy S25 series users can apply to join the beta program through the Samsung Members app.
According to Samsung, the update will gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices and countries.
One UI 8 stable will be released later this year. Samsung will debut One UI 8 on its newest foldables this summer, so we should expect it on the Galaxy Z Flip7 and the Z Fold7.
