Lu Weibing, partner and president of Xiaomi Group and general manager of the Xiaomi brand, recently confirmed the official details of Xiaomi 15 Ultra during a live broadcast in China. Xiaomi’s strategy is to expand its premium product lineup across various categories, as product launch events alone are rarely long enough to showcase each product thoroughly.

With this in mind, Xiaomi will increasingly combine launch events and live broadcasts to give users more insights into product details and their thought processes. Digital Chat Station posted a summary of yesterday’s live broadcast on Weibo today.

One of the biggest revelations was the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s full camera specifications. The device will have a quad-camera system with a 50-megapixel primary sensor (1/0.98-inch, 23mm, f/1.63) and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens (14mm, f/2.2).

With a 70mm telephoto lens and an 18cm telephoto lens, this telephoto camera has 50MP. Periscope telephoto camera with 200 megapixels (1/1.4-inch, 100mm, f/2.6). It supports lossless in-sensor zoom (ISZ) at 200mm and 400mm and offers 0.6x, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4.3x, 8.7x, and 17.3x focal length options.

With its ultra-pure optical system, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is designed to set a new standard in mobile imaging by eliminating the limitations of night photography. This generation will not feature variable apertures.

From an imaging flagship to a “pinnacle imaging technology flagship,” Xiaomi’s 15 Ultra packs the best hardware available. However, pricing will increase as well. The device will also feature Xiaomi’s top-tier battery, display, and connectivity technologies.

Xiaomi Imaging Lab:

The Xiaomi Imaging Lab was also announced for the first time. Featuring detailed recreations of environments like cafes, museums, jewellery stores, luxury boutiques, and restaurants, the lab costs over 20 million Yuan to build. During the second phase, artificial sunlight and water systems will be added. Investing in the lab explains why Xiaomi no longer prioritizes DXOMARK rankings.
