It has long been rumoured that Apple is working on a new iPhone SE model. This budget iPhone will launch soon, but its price range has just been revealed ahead of any official announcement. Apple’s new custom modem is one thing keeping the price down, according to the leak.
Japanese carriers have leaked the latest pricing information. There is a possibility that Apple’s next-generation budget iPhone will cost less than $500 (Rs.42,800/-). Using a custom-designed modem chip helps prevent the iPhone SE 4 from rising in price. Initially, Cupertino’s tech giant turned to Qualcomm for 5G networking. With Apple’s proprietary 5G modem, the iPhone SE 4 could avoid Qualcomm’s licensing fees.
The use of Apple’s in-house 5G modems has been rumoured for some time. The company would also be less dependent on other chipmakers without just lowering the pricing. In the past few years, however, the company has faced many problems with its modem development. Apple may be able to improve, change, or tweak the technology before shipping it on the flagship iPhone 17 series in 2025 with the iPhone SE 4.
The budget iPhone SE 4 is expected to be released in early 2025 based on what we know so far.
