By introducing cloud mobile game streaming for its Galaxy devices, Samsung follows Xbox, PlayStation, and Nvidia in the game streaming race. Instead of streaming PC games, Samsung’s cloud gaming service streams mobile games.
The Samsung Gaming Hub is a cloud game streaming service the company has been testing for some time. In addition to Monopoly Go, Candy Crush Saga, Homescapes, and Honor of Kings, Samsung Gaming Hub debuts with 23 free games. North American Galaxy devices are completely free to use.
Samsung Gaming Hub and the Galaxy Store’s games list both offer this cloud gaming service. With today’s Android games being so big, it’s a big ask for game publishers to spend all the mobile data on a single game, which is why the game can be played without installing it.
The Gaming Hub will provide an “all-in-one platform for curating your favourite games, discovering new favourites, exploring what’s trending and receiving special benefits”. Samsung calls this feature Instant Play. A cloud game streaming feature allows users to try out games before installing them, similar to Google Play Games.
Samsung’s vice president and head of game services, Jong Woo, stated in a report from GamesIndustry.biz that 50% of beta testers went on to download the game after playing the listing/ad. As a result of the new cloud streaming service, publishers can “significantly disrupt how they scale their mobile games.”
It has not been announced when Samsung Gaming Hub will be rolled out globally or in India. We can expect the service to debut in India sooner or later given the massive mobile gaming market there.
