It has been rumored that Google is working on a Pixel Watch 3. The next-generation wearable device will come with another upgrade. Overall, it will improve Watch Unlock functionality and expand its potential applications. With Ultra-WideBand connectivity, this will be possible. Original and second-generation Pixel Watches can already be unlocked via Bluetooth.

9to5Google discovered a new code in the Play Services app that upgrades Watch Unlock. The term ‘UWB ranging’ is used here. In some countries, UWB is not available. This enhanced feature of WatchUnlock was automatically turned off by Google. An unsupported connectivity protocol notification is displayed.

The notification also states that you can still use Watch Unlock, but it may take longer and be less accurate. According to this, Google is developing ultra-wideband-based unlocking of smartwatches via connected phones that is faster and more accurate. It’s important to note that both devices must have the necessary hardware. UWB support is available on the Pixel 6 Pro and later, but not on the standard variants and the Pixel Watch.

Additionally, UWB can also be used to unlock the Pixel Watch 3 faster and more accurately, control smart homes, and control smart doors.

The Pixel Watch 3 will come in a new 45mm size, in addition to its current 41mm size.
