In the next few weeks, Apple will introduce new tablets. According to a new rumor, both the Pro and Air will be upgraded. Each will be accompanied by two copies.

As with the iPad Pro, Apple will offer the iPad Air in two sizes for the first time. An 11″ iPad Air will seem to borrow its predecessor’s dimensions, but a new 12.9″ iPad Air will measure 280.6 x 214.9 x 6 mm.

As compared to the current model, the new iPad Pro will measure 249.7 x 177.5 x 5.1 mm. With the same screen size as the iPad Air but thinner, the 12.9″ iPad Pro is a little bit longer and wider than the Air – which seems a bit strange since the Air was supposed to be all about thinness.

In comparison to the current model’s dimensions of 280.6 x 214.9 x 6.4 mm, the new iPad Pro’s dimensions will be 281.5 x 215.5 x 5 mm. It’s a pretty significant decrease in thickness from one generation to the next, which should make it easier to handle such an enormous device. Apparently, the Pro line switched to OLED displays to achieve this extra thinness.

Case makers are already ramping up production for the new iPads, which are expected to land by the end of March. The new iPad Pros will use the M3 chip, while it’s unclear whether the Airs will use the M3 as well. As of now, it’s unclear whether Apple will hold an event to officially launch the devices – press releases have been the only means of announcing them in the past.
