For several weeks, Tecno has been teasing its first flip phone, called the Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G. While this phone is aimed at the middle price range, it still has many of the features of a really expensive folding phone.
In terms of design, the brand draws inspiration from space, featuring a circular cover screen called “The Planet,” and an integrated camera module depicting an “Asteroid Belt.” To enhance the luxury feel, the brand used lychee-pattern classic leather (vegan leather) on the back.

It has a 1.32-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466. With a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, 1000 nits peak brightness, and up to 120Hz refresh rate, the phone has a 6.9-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2460 pixels) flexible LTPO AMOLED display. Despite 200,000 folds, the brand claims the display will remain virtually crease-free.
It will feature the volume rocker and the power button on the right side. The power button has a fingerprint sensor. When folded, the smartphone measures 88.77 x 74.05 x 14.95mm, while unfolded, it measures 171.72 x 74.05 x 6.95mm.
With its 64MP (primary) and 13MP (ultra-wide) cameras, it stands out from the crowd. Thanks to the RGBW pixel format, the 64MP RGBW Ultra Sensitive sensor main camera increases light intake by 60%, reduces noise and enhances color accuracy. This flip phone has the highest camera resolution of 64MP, as well as an f/1.7 aperture and 1.6μm (4in1) pixels. It features PDAF, ISOCELL Pixel Isolation, and Pixel Fusion Algorithms to deliver exceptional night performance.
Selfie enthusiasts will love the 32MP Dual-flash Autofocus Front Camera. In low-light situations, it offers perfect lighting for selfies, thanks to a front-facing flashlight. For clear and detailed selfies and vlogs, the camera features Automatic Eye-focus.
Phantom V Flip 5G is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 8050 5G chipset, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
It has a 4,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support, which can fill up 33% of the battery in just 10 minutes. With support for 14 different 5G bands, the Phantom V Flip will provide various connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.3, and 5G connectivity. HiOS 13.5 is Tecno’s custom operating system built on Android 13.
Pricing:
Two color options will be available for the Tecno phone: Black and Purple. In India, Phantom V Flip 5G will be released first with an early bird price of INR 49,999.
