According to reports, Airtel is preparing to launch the Xstream AirFiber 5G device to compete with Jio’s AirFiber. The app’s companion has been spotted on the Google Play Store, but no official announcement has been made. It also provides information about the device’s specs and pricing for a 6-month plan offering 100Mbps.

Airtel Xstream AirFiber 5G

Airtel has released a new Xstream AirFiber app on the Play Store. This app will allow users to set up and manage the Xstream AirFiber 5G device. A 5G network will provide fiber-like high-speed internet connectivity over the air at an affordable price.

The device appears to be designed like a tower in one of the listing screenshots. There are three indicators at the top, followed by Airtel branding. When connected to 5G, the first indicator will turn blue instead of red. When it is on a 4G network, it will blink continuously. Signal strength for the 4G/5G network will be displayed in the second indicator. The third and last indicator will tell users when the device is ready to connect to WiFi.

Xstream AirFiber can only be used by users in the 5G coverage area. In order to find the nearest 5G spot, it will use the location permission on your smartphone. In order to access 5G, users need to follow directions and find an open area near a window or door. In order to ensure optimal performance, 5G connectivity is required.

Airtel 5G SIM cards need to be inserted into the device’s SIM card slot at the bottom. After that, the device needs to be plugged into a power source and turned on. It is possible to connect to other devices by scanning the QR code or by using the WiFi network name.

With WiFi 6 support, Airtel promises 50% higher speeds than WiFi 5 routers with the Xstream AirFiber. Online gamers will also benefit from low latency.

Plans:

Xstream AirFiber pricing is not yet available. We may hear something closer to the launch. According to the Play Store listing, a 6-month Xstream AirFiber plan with 100Mbps speed will cost Rs 2,994. It comes to just Rs 499 per month, which is an unbeatable price.
