Finally, we have got the review unit for the most affordable wireless over-the-ear headphones from Audio Technica. Yes, Audio Technica ATH-M20XBT is good pair of headphones that has excellent battery life and comes with good sound quality. Dig in to know more.

Design:

The new Audio Technica ATH-M20XBT comes with a good design and is also light in weight. It comes with a premium build as it got a metal band with plastic & foam earcups doesn’t actually give those high-end headphones vibes but it’s worth it as these aren’t those way expensive headphones. The ear cups can rotate or tilt as your wish but sadly they can’t be folded which might take a bit more space in your bag.

Though the headphones are made majority out of plastic they still give that premium feel and are worth for what they cost. It weighs just 216g which might be the lightest over-the-ear headphones with a wireless connectivity option. So one can use the Audio Technica ATH-M20XBT for long hours without any doubts.

The ATH-M20XBT may cause your ears to rub against the pads if you have larger ears. But at the price that it sells we can’t complain much but we recommend trying the headphones before you buy. The headphones are pretty much comfortable to wear and is made out of good quality materials which don’t looks cheap anyway.

Connectivity & Controls:

The new Audio Technica ATH-M20XBT comes with Bluetooth 5.0 support which is pretty outdated but connects any device instantly. So no complaints in terms of wireless connectivity. They have also provided standard headphone cables so that you can use the headphones with any device that got a 3.5mm audio port. Further, the device also supports Google Fast Pair.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M20XBT lacks capacitive touch controls or gesture controls, unlike some of the higher-end options on the market. There are only a few buttons on the left ear cup to accomplish the basics.

So the Volume Up button single tap increases the volume whereas the long press moves to the next track. The same case goes with Volume down single press reduces the volume & long press takes you to the previous track. Lastly, we have the Power or Multi-function key with a single tap it can pause/Answer a call/End a call while a double tap activates Siri/Google Assistant & Long tap power on/off. The triple tap on this key will enable low-latency mode.

There is also a USB Type-C port to charge the device along with a 3.5mm audio connector port. While Audio-Technica Connect is available on Android and iOS, it does not support the Audio-Technica ATH-M20XBT, so you will not benefit from it.

In addition, these headphones support multi-point pairing, so you can pair two devices simultaneously with them, which is really useful for those who frequently use their laptop and phone at work.

Battery:

Audio-Technica ATH-M20XBT  might be one of the best wireless headphones having excellent battery life. Yes, the headphones last very long and don’t need to be charged regularly.  On a 10-minute charge, the Audio-Technica ATH-M20XBT is capable of providing 3 hours of usage. You may experience different results based on a variety of factors, but this is a good starting point.

Sound Quality:

As these are sort of budget headphones I really didn’t have high expectations but the Audio-Technica ATH-M20XBT comes with good sound quality. The headphones got pretty good bass so if you are a bass lover then these headphones won’t disappoint you.

An internal range of 7Hz to 32KHz is delivered by 40mm dynamic drivers (with an impedance of 36 ohms), which is quite a range compared to the typical 20Hz to 20KHz.

It gives deep clear bass which can’t be found on any headphones under this price segment. The headphones also offer good sound even in terms of vocals. It is not distorting at high volume levels, and it still sounds powerful at moderate levels. Listening to music and watching a movie, the instrument separation is quite noticeable.

I loved the sound output of the ATH-M20xBT when gaming. Although I enjoyed the output of these headphones, I wish there was an effective noise cancellation, which is sadly missing. You really want noise cancellation when using headphones outdoors these days.

Verdict:

The Audio-Technica ATH-M20XBT is actually a descent wireless over-the-ear headphone. But we already have tons of other headphones that actually provide Noise Cancellation support which misses on these might be a deal breaker. Still for the price of Rs.8790/- these are actually great value for money headphones with excellent battery life and good sound quality.
