It was announced last week that Samsung would unveil the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 in late July, rather than in August. Samsung has not confirmed or denied this rumor, but one more publication claims Samsung will unveil the Fold5 and Flip5 earlier than expected.
According to the Korean publication The Elec, the two foldable will be introduced 2-3 weeks earlier than their predecessors due to concerns about Q2 2023 earnings. In order to improve Q3 numbers, the Korean conglomerate is considering launching the Fold5 and Flip5 in late July rather than the second week of August.
As a result of the early launch, some parts of the two foldable smartphones are also 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule. The new droplet-style hinge is one of them. Other parts, however, remain on the same production schedule as last year.
Additionally, according to the publication, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 will have OLED displays based on the same M12 material as the Fold4 and Flip4, rather than the M13, which could be used by Google for the Pixel Fold, which is expected to debut alongside the Pixel 7a on May 10.
There’s no word from Samsung about the Galaxy Z Fold5 or Galaxy Z Flip5, but leaked renders reveal what these smartphones will look like.
