Google enters into the Foldable segment finally after a long wait with the new Pixel Fold. Yes, Google I/O turns out to be the biggest hardware event of this year with back-to-back major new devices launched.

Design:

Google Pixel Fold has a compact form factor, but both the front and back sides seem to have wider aspect ratios. It has a punch hole cutout in the center and narrow bezels on all sides. All four sides of the foldable phone have curved edges. On the right edge are the power and volume rocker buttons.

The official images of the Google Pixel Fold show it in a gray color called Obsidian. On the back, there is a horizontal camera module that is similar to the previous Pixel generations, but it doesn’t extend all the way across. Two sensors are housed in pill-shaped cutouts and a third lens and LED flash unit are on the outside of the camera island.

Specs:

The external display measures 5.8 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 2092 (FHD+). It has a 17.4:9 aspect ratio and 408ppi resolution; the OLED screen will refresh at 120Hz. With a resolution of 1840 x 2208, the internal display measures 7.6 inches. A thin glass layer protected by a plastic layer covers the OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a 380ppi resolution internally. Both the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Google says the battery offers “beyond 24 hours of life.” So it packs a 4821 mAh battery with 30W fast charge support. It also comes with wireless charging support.

In addition to 12GB of RAM, the Pixel Fold will be powered by the Google Tensor 2 chipset, which is found inside the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones. Titan M2 security coprocessor will be used as usual.

On the back of the Pixel Fold, there will be a 48MP primary camera with OIS and an aperture of f/1.7. There will also be an ultra-wide camera with 10.8MP and an aperture of f/2.2. Finally, there will be a 10.8MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and 20x Super Res Zoom.

On the external display, there is a 9.5MP hole-punch camera with a fixed focus and an aperture of f/2.2. The internal display has an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and fixed focus. The rear camera can record video in 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps.

Another feature that will be announced is the ability to take selfies with the rear camera. You can also remove unwanted people, pets, and things from your photographs using the Magic Eraser. Using artificial intelligence, Photo Unblur fixes blurry old photos, including those taken with another camera. There are also camera-related features on the Pixel Fold, such as Real Tone and Long Exposure.

As a result of the fingerprint sensor being integrated with the side-mounted power button and not under the display like on Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 models, many users will not have to deal with this problem anymore.

It will measure 5.5 inches by 3.1 inches by .5 inches and weigh 283 grams.

Pricing:

Pixel Fold with 256GB variant (in chalk and obsidian) will cost $1,799 (Rs.1,47,600/-) while the 512GB variant (in obsidian only) will cost $1,919 (Rs.1,59,500/-).
