A new entry-level chipset has been announced by MediaTek. This is the MediaTek Helio G36. A successor to the Helio G35 is the latest processor from the Taiwanese semiconductor company. In India, the Helio G36 will power budget gaming phones.

TSMC’s 12nm process is used in the MediaTek Helio G36. The processor has eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz. It is equipped with an IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite technology is included in the chipset. Resource Management Engine 2.0 ensures sustained performance by dynamically managing GPU, CPU, and memory; Networking Engine 2.0 allows for faster response time and better connectivity.

It supports FHD+ displays with a refresh rate of 90Hz. In addition to dual 13MP lenses or a 50MP single sensor, it supports hardware-based imaging features such as bokeh effects, MEMA 3DNR, and multi-frame noise reduction. With the system-on-chip, devices will be able to shoot 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.

The MediaTek Helio G36 supports dual 4G VoLTE as well as WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, Galileo, GLONASS, and GPS.

We can expect the Helio G36 to power phones under Rs 10,000 since it is an entry-level chipset. The availability of the chipset and the smartphone brands that will use it should be announced soon.
