Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims Apple’s midrange iPhone sales are lower than expected. Due to this, Cupertino is expected to cancel or delay the iPhone SE 4 until 2024.

The next-gen iPhone SE will have a full-screen design, which means a higher cost of production, which means the company needs to reevaluate its strategy and pricing.

The analyst believes that scaling back and postponing the new phone would help reduce “unnecessary new product development expenses” and also assist the company with “the challenges of the global economic recession in 2023”.

Based on early renders, the iPhone SE 4 is likely to be called iPhone SE (2024). As a result of the X generation, Touch ID was removed and Face ID became the sole method of biometric authentication, and the SE series is expected to follow suit.

We can be sure that the main change from the iPhone XR will be the chipset, which will improve the camera’s performance and make iOS run more smoothly. Apple usually unveils the iPhone SE in spring, so we have at least 15 months to wait.

Apple still has time to reconsider its decisions, so nothing is final at this point.
