Google teased and confirmed the Pixel tablet’s release in 2023 at the Google I/O conference in May. It was confirmed today at the Pixel 7 launch that the Pixel Tablet will come with a charging speaker dock.

There will be an optional “Charging Speaker Dock” with the Pixel Tablet. Due to its docked position, the Google Assistant will always be listening, and you will be able to control smart home devices in hands-free mode. It will essentially act as a smart display while docked.

According to Google, the dock transforms your tablet from a drawer item into an integral part of your life. Tablets are generally found at home but are only used for part of the day. They’re put away in drawers, misplaced, present a tripping hazard, or are just out of battery the rest of the time. By replacing a smart speaker or a smart display with a dock, you should be able to resolve all of these issues and possibly save some money as well.

Pixel Tablet features “premium materials and finishes, as well as smooth, rounded corners that distinguish it from other Pixel products”, according to Google. According to Google, that finish is “premium nanoceramic”, and it’s both beautiful and comfortable.

As in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, you can expect a “gorgeous display” and the power of the Tensor G2 chipset. Clearly, the Pixel Tablet is a high-end device.
