Earlier yesterday, Samsung Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ renders leaked online. Here’s a look at the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the missing member.
In the end, Samsung’s highest-end non-foldable device for next year will look just like its predecessor. Just looking at these renders, it’s almost impossible to tell that this isn’t the S22 Ultra. Yet, it isn’t. Three of the camera circle ‘islands’ on the S23 Ultra appear to protrude more than the other two. In addition, the front looks flatter, so the radius of the curves has been further tightened; the Ultra was already boxy, but now it’s even more so.
However, that’s all I have to say. Unless you look very closely, you won’t notice the obvious differences between the two. S23 Ultra measures 163.4 x 78.1 x 8.8 mm, compared to 163.3 x 77.9 x 8.9 mm for S22 Ultra.
Samsung’s top-of-the-line Galaxy S23 and S23+ will also have split camera islands, allowing them to look like they are actually part of the same family. The A-series models also look like them, for better or for worse. As a result, this clearly reinforces Samsung’s design philosophy.
In any case, sharing a design language with a $200 device from the same brand is, let’s say, an interesting stylistic choice. For an overall easier recognition, it definitely sacrifices exclusivity at the high end. At this point, anyone can guess whether the tradeoff is worthwhile.
A few weeks earlier than the S22 models, the Galaxy S23 family could be announced in January, according to rumors. With the rate leaks have been going on lately, the S23 trio will definitely be revealed way in advance.
