IFA is here with back to back smartphone launches we now have the first SoC launched with Huawei Kirin 980. Huawei becomes the first OEM to launch the world’s first 7nm based processor with Kirin 980 SoC.
The new Huawei Kirin 980 is made by TSMC and comes with 40% more battery efficient and 20% better performance when compared with a 10nm chipset. It becomes the World’s first chipset to come with a three-layer cluster with two super-big Cortex A76 cores with additional two pairs of Cortex A76 cores and Quad-core Cortex A55 which is coupled by Mali-G76 GPU which is 46% more powerful than the predecessor.
The new Huawei Kirin 980 also becomes the World’s first chipset to feature Dual NPU for better AI features with dedicated ISP designed by Huawei. The chipset also comes with World’s first LTE Cat 21 support with download speeds up to 1.4Gbps.
Apart from the chipset, Huawei also confirmed that the Huawei Mate 20 series will be the first-ever Huawei Kirin 980 SoC powered smartphone. As per the teaser, Huawei is all set to launch the Huawei Mate 20 in London on 16 Oct.
