As per a report from WSJ, due to an ugly battle between Apple and Qualcomm, Apple now has taken a drastic step of not using any chip made by Qualcomm instead it will be using either MediaTek made or Intel made chips.Apple can still change the decision of not using Qualcomm chips and modem as there is still a lot of time until late June that is three months earlier than iPhone launch.
So, this might be a big blow to Qualcomm as Apple is planning to include their competitor chips.Apple was always using Qualcomm made chips and modem until iPhone 6 but from iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and even the iPhone X Apple is using both Qualcomm and other companies made chips and modems.
Earlier Tim Cook was open to discuss and settle the lawsuit filed with Qualcomm but Apple still expects that they can win the battle.So we have to wait for few more months to get more details on this decision.
