Xiaomi finally launches its mid range smartphone Mi 5X in China for a price tag of $222 (Rs.14500/-).With that Xiaomi also unveiled the MIUI 9 and Mi 5X will be the first device to come with MIUI 9 out of the box.Xiaomi Mi 5X has already broken the records before the launch and was the most pre-ordered smartphone in China.It will go on sale starting from August 1 at 10 AM in China.
Xiaomi Mi 5X is completely built out of metal unibody and has rounded edges with antenna bands on all the corners of the device.The phone is just 7.3 mm thick and weighs 165 grams. Xiaomi Mi 5X sports 5.5 inches 1080p display and there is no mention of any protection. It is powered b y SD625 chip coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card slot up to 128GB.
At the rear, we can find the speciality of this device with horizontally aligned dual camera setup.It features a similar set of the camera what we found on Mi 6 with 12MP resolution and will function similar to Mi 6 with one Telephoto lens another wide angle lens.Besides the rear camera, there is a Dual LED flash.The rear camera can shoot videos up to 4K @30fps.The front facing camera is of 5MP with the capability to record videos up to 1080p.The camera also has Mi 6 special 2x lossless zoom to included.Below the camera, there is the rear mounted fingerprint scanner.
The connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Dual Band Wifi, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, GLONASS, IR Blaster at the top and 3.5 mm audio port, USB Type-C port and the speaker is located at the bottom of the device.All this is fueled by 3,080 mAh battery and Mi 5X runs latest Android 7.1.1 with MIUI 9 on top.The device is available in three colours with Rose Gold, Gold and Black. There are no details for global launch or even India launch.

The latest MIUI 9 comes with some new features like Smart Assistant, Image Search and Smart App launcher.The newest feature the Smart App launcher will launch apps faster on the Xiaomi MIUI 9.0 on any device and is heavily advertised by Xiaomi.The function of this Smart App launcher will be shown as a small pop-up card which will appear at the bottom of the UI. The launcher will suggest apps based on what content been shown on the screen for example if you got SMS with address details then MIUI Smart App launcher will suggest you open navigation app.
The next feature is Smart Assistant which will help you to search contents on your phone and give out better search results.There is also Image Search option which will find the image stored on your device what you are looking for.Apart from that with MIUI 9 user will be able to launch apps faster than MIUI 8 as per the company.MIUI 9 will also automatically manage the junk files, optimise haptic feedback based on your usage and also controls CPU congestion.There is also the new addition with all new wallpapers, background optimisation and all new File manager app.
There is a new feature added to Dual Games where you can play same games with two separate user accounts.Automatically archive any documents, there is the new home screen similar to Samsung Bixby where you will be able to see frequently used apps and all other content.There is also split screen, SMS filters, all new Desktop editor and new Silent mode option which we see on any Android smartphone.
As of now, there are no details when will it officially launched in India and other parts of the world.The MIUI 9 will be launched soon in China and will be made available for Mi 6 users as of now.
