The GalaxyAfter several reports and a demonstration of the prototype, Samsung formally unveiled its first tri-fold smartphone. With the biggest screen of any Galaxy foldable, some ingenious software gimmicks, and premium specifications, the Galaxy Z TriFold is the pinnacle of Samsung’s foldable expertise, which now includes over 16 models.
Design:
The Z TriFold’s two titanium hinges, which allow the primary folding screen to be fully covered when not in use, are among its most notable innovations. The Z TriFold’s cover screen is on the back, unlike Huawei’s Mate XT and Mate XTs, and the two sides of the folding screen can fold into the middle.
The narrowest point measures only 3.9mm. When folded, it weighs 309 grams and measures 159.2 x 75 x 12.9 mm.
Specs:
The Galaxy Z TriFold is indeed powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, coupled with 16GB of RAM and 512GB/1TB of internal storage.
It comes with triple rear cameras: a 200MP sensor with f/1.8, 1.8 µm, OIS, 2PD; a 10MP telephoto lens with f/2.4, OIS, 3x optical zoom. Lastly, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with a 123-degree FoV, an f/2.2 aperture, and an LED flash.
The device features a new 10MP selfie camera on the internal display, equipped with an f/1.8 aperture. The external display features a 10MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The Galaxy Z TriFold is also IP48-certified, making it dust- and water-resistant. It also supports the S Pen, wireless charging, and Dolby Atmos speakers.
Three full-sized applications can run side by side in portrait mode. With its independent Samsung DeX, the Galaxy Z TriFold is the first Samsung phone to include a desktop-like experience from the Quick Settings panel. The Z TriFold may be used as a portable workstation when paired with a mouse and keyboard.
Connectivity:
The connectivity option includes a Single SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE support, as well as 5G, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS, NavIC, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.3. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device runs on Android 16 with One UI 8 on top.
One UI 8, based on Android 16, comes with the entire Galaxy AI package on the software side. Samsung says it will provide you 7 Android OS upgrades and 7 years of security fixes.
The Galaxy Z TriFold ships with a 5600 mAh battery, supporting 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
Pricing:
There will only be one colour available for the Samsung Z TriFold: Crafted Black. The device price has not yet been disclosed. We have confirmation that South Korean consumers will be the first to purchase it. It becomes available on Friday, December 12. In the future, Samsung plans to extend its availability to China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
