With the iPhone’s 20th anniversary in 2027, Apple is looking to bring some excitement with a bold redesign and naming changes. Omdia senior researcher Heo Moo-yeol suggests Apple will skip a number and go straight to iPhone 20 in 2027 if we follow the numbers.
In 2017, Apple made a similar move with the iPhone X. With the iPhone’s tenth-anniversary release, the series underwent its first significant redesign.
According to previous reports, the iPhone 20 series will feature a bezel-less display panel that, when combined with the sloping lines, will give the device the appearance of a single piece of glass.
According to the new report, Apple may skip the vanilla iPhone 18 next year instead offering Air and Pro models alongside the highly anticipated iPhone Fold. Apple is expected to release its iPhone 20 series the following year, which will include the vanilla model, but it will launch in the first half of the year alongside the affordable iPhone 18e. At a separate fall event, Apple will unveil the redesigned iPhone 20 Pro, iPhone 20 Air, and iPhone 20 Fold 2.
