Apple announced its 14″ MacBook Pro with the brand-new M5 chip following a teaser earlier today. The Apple Vision Pro also gets the new chip, replacing the Apple M2 found in the launch model.

Apple MacBook Pro 14″ 2025:

In comparison to the outgoing base M4 model, the new M5 MacBook Pro 14″ offers some significant improvements. A 10-core CPU with 4x performance units and 6x efficiency units is combined with a 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator.

According to Apple, AI workflows are 3.5x faster than on the M4 and 6x faster than on the M1. There is a 20% improvement in multithreaded performance on the M5 thanks to the 16-core Neural Engine. Additionally, the new chip offers 153GB/s of memory bandwidth, up 30% from the previous model.

The most significant update for the 14″ MacBook Pro is its battery life, which Apple claims will last up to 24 hours. It comes with a 72.4Wh battery cell, as in the M4 model, bundled with a 70W USB-C power adapter once again, thanks to the optimisations on the M5 chip.

Besides the new chip, the M5 MacBook Pro 14 has the same hardware as last year’s M4. This laptop features a 14.2-inch (diagonal) Liquid Retina XDR display with a 1,964 x 3,024-pixel resolution and a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate. Featuring a 12MP Centre Stage webcam and 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness, it has the same specs as the previous model.

There is a MagSafe charging port, 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports, 1 HDMI port, an SDXC card slot and a headphone jack. Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E remain the only wireless connectivity options.

Space Black and Silver are the colours available on the Apple MacBook Pro 14 with the M5 chip.

It runs AI features up to 50% faster for first-party apps and 2x faster for third-party apps thanks to the chip upgrade. According to Apple, the battery endurance is up to 2.5 hours for general use and 3 hours for video playback.

While the original Vision Pro received some criticism for its weight, the new model weighs 750–800 grams, depending on the Light Seal and headband configuration. The M2 Vision Pro weighs between 600 and 650 grams.
