Apple announced updates to its 13-inch and 11-inch iPad Pro models today. All of Apple’s latest chips are now included in both models, including the M5, N1, and C1X.
Apple iPad Pro 2025:
Today, Apple is launching the M5, a brand-new chip that will also appear in the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the Apple Vision Pro. The CPU layout can include up to 10 cores, with four performance cores and six efficiency cores. Like the M4, Apple claims the M5’s performance cores are the fastest in the world. The GPU also features dedicated neural accelerators in each of the 10 cores. A 153GB/s memory bandwidth and improved ray tracing performance have been added.
Due to its new neural accelerators, the M5 is said to have up to 3.5x the AI performance of the M4. In terms of 3D rendering performance, the M5 is 1.5x faster with ray tracing. Final Cut Pro also transcodes videos 1.2x quicker with the M5.
The iPad Pro variants also feature faster chips and more memory. Memory has been increased from 8GB to 12GB on the 256GB and 512GB models, but 16GB remains on the 1TB and 2TB models.
With the addition of the N1, a wireless networking chip that first appeared in this year’s iPhone models, the new iPad Pro models also have better connectivity thanks to the C1X modem.
Last but not least, the charging system has been upgraded. iPad Pro models now support fast charging, just like iPhone 17 models. On the 11-inch model, you can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes using Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max, while on the 13-inch model, it takes 35 minutes.
In other respects, the new iPad Pro models are the same as their predecessors, running the M4 chip. The same Tandem OLED Ultra Retina XDR displays are included, along with the same 12MP rear and 12MP front cameras, four speakers, and Thunderbolt/USB4 connectivity.
