Xiaomi plans to launch the Redmi K90 series in China before the end of the year, with a worldwide launch under the Poco F8 name to follow soon. With the release of the Poco F8 Ultra, the top-end Redmi K90 Pro model is expected to make a comeback, and preliminary rumours indicate significant improvements over the K80 Pro from the previous year.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset, is rumoured to power the phone. If correct, that would result in a noticeable improvement in efficiency and performance, particularly when gaming and multitasking.

Additionally, battery life is significantly increasing. Xiaomi is reportedly switching to a 7,000 mAh battery from the K80 Pro’s 6,000 mAh one. Regretfully, wired charging appears to be a minor reduction, going from 120W to 100W on the previous model. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and wireless charging (likely 50W) are expected to remain in place.

The K90 Pro is said to feature a periscope zoom lens for photography, a new addition to the Redmi range. Advanced zoom features, often found only on Xiaomi’s high-end flagships, would be available with this.

The tipster also mentions enhanced picture processing, which may improve selfies and results from other cameras. It is also anticipated that audio gear would be upgraded on the multimedia front. The phone, like the K80 Pro, will still have a 2K OLED screen.
