Xiaomi’s offshoot brand POCO appears poised to shake up its mid-tier offerings soon, with the incoming POCO M8 Pro borrowing quite a bit from Redmi’s freshest drop.
Fresh leaks suggest this handset might essentially be a rebadged take on the Redmi Note 15 Pro+, which just hit shelves in China alongside the rest of the Redmi Note 15 crew. That lineup packs three variants: the baseline Note 15 5G, the step-up Note 15 Pro 5G, and the premium Note 15 Pro+ 5G. Word is, the international edition of the Pro+ will tweak a few things from the home-market model.
Digging into firmware spills courtesy of X poster PaperKing 13, the global Note 15 Pro+ is slated for a 6,500mAh power pack juiced by 100W rapid charging—swapping out China’s 7,000mAh cell and 90W speeds. That same code trail also hints at a POCO makeover, dubbing it the M8 Pro.
Sure, POCO’s decision to flip Redmi devices into its own isn’t groundbreaking, but Xiaomi’s playbook tweak here catches the eye. Remember, the POCO M7 Pro was basically the plain Redmi Note 14 in disguise, so folks figured its follow-up would mirror the entry-level Note 15. Looks like that’s not the case anymore.
Being a straight-up rebrand, expect the POCO M8 Pro to rock that 6,500mAh battery with 100W charging muscle, plus OmniVision’s OVX8000 as the star shooter teamed with an 8MP wide-angle lens.
The rest of the specs ought to echo the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ pretty faithfully.
Launch chatter is still thin on the ground, but we’ll keep tabs and shout out any updates when they land.
