A new leak is causing conflicting emotions as the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s debut approaches. Although it appears that Samsung is improving its camera arrangement, the latest information suggests that one crucial component may not change, leaving fans seeking something fresh with a familiar feeling of déjà vu.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to include a 50MP telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom, which is the same configuration as the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the S25 Ultra, according to a GalaxyClub rumor that SamMobile referenced. Phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), optical image stabilisation (OIS), and 0.7µm pixels comprise the 1/2.52-inch sensor in question, which offers well-established long-range capabilities.
Nonetheless, some people might be disappointed by this announcement, particularly given that there had been prior speculation that a single 200MP ISOCELL telephoto sensor would be upgraded. For now, it appears like Samsung is reducing the bill of materials wherever possible, most likely to cover the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2’s price and maintain US pricing stability in the face of rising tariffs.
The second lens, which may have a 3.5x or even 8x zoom, has not yet been described, which gives some people hope for at least one significant camera update. Beyond the telephoto configuration, the S26 Ultra is likely to continue using the same 50MP ultrawide lens and 200MP primary camera that were first introduced with the S25 Ultra. However, Samsung could be introducing some new strategies.
