Nothing has formally released its Nothing OS 4.0, which is based on Android 16, following a few hints. Together with several little adjustments, such as a revamped lock screen, the latest edition features a redesigned visual interface that is still unmistakably Nothing. Nothing indicates that it is committed to providing its users with an even more straightforward and valuable experience with the most recent release.
The Quick Settings toggle in Nothing OS 4.0 has been overhauled with new, bigger format tiles for specific things and a less crowded appearance. Nothing is introducing a revised dark mode with improved contrast for a sleeker appearance, in addition to the cosmetic adjustments. Nothing is adding new Always-on Display (AOD) options, and the screen brightness slider is now more responsive.
Two floating app icons are also supported by the latest update, allowing for quicker app switching and multitasking. App launches are now more responsive and seamless thanks to the new app optimisation function. Additionally, Nothing is releasing a “smarter” gallery app with more options, presets, and an easier-to-use layout, as well as an upgraded camera app UI. A new dashboard that monitors your AI usage is also available.
Regarding the release, the open beta of Nothing OS 4.0 is “coming soon.” Older Nothing and CMF devices should be in line behind the Nothing Phone (3). Since the Phone (1) has already been verified to have reached the end of its software support lifespan, we also know that it will not acquire Nothing OS 4.0.
