The Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690 CPU, the world’s first enterprise mobile processor with a fully integrated UHF (Radio Frequency Identification, or RFID) reader, has been released, according to Qualcomm.
The processor, which enables on-device AI, enhanced connectivity, and software-defined functionality without requiring a hardware redesign, is made for corporate and industrial devices that are ready for the future. Based on 4nm technology, the Dragonwing Q-6690 offers excellent performance and efficiency.
Completely Integrated RFID
With its fully integrated UHF (RAIN) RFID reader, the Dragonwing Q-6690 is the first enterprise mobile processor that eliminates the need for large, external RFID reader modules. This enables devices to read UHF RFID tags natively, while also simplifying device design and reducing expenses. Applications such as asset monitoring, product authentication, and retail inventory intelligence can leverage this capability.
Superior Connectivity
The Dragonwing Q-6690 supports 5G+5G DSDA (Dual-SIM Dual-Active), which enables simultaneous connections to two 5G networks and provides failover redundancy for critical applications. Additionally, it features Multi-Link Operation (MLO) and Wi-Fi 7 with 320MHz channels, which can achieve aggregate throughputs of more than 30 Gbps. Additionally, the CPU features integrated UWB and Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility for dependable, fast, and location-aware communications.
Strengthened Performance/Device AI
With an octa-core architecture and a maximum clock speed of 2.9 GHz, the processor features a Qualcomm Kryo CPU. A specialised AI engine produces up to six TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second). The CPU, which is energy-efficient and built on a 4nm technology node, can handle sophisticated tasks such as real-time AI and video processing directly on the device. Three Kryo Gold cores @ 2.7 GHz, four Kryo Silver cores at 2.0 GHz, and one Kryo Gold Prime core at 2.9 GHz make up the CPU.
Features That Can Be Changed by Software
Through software feature packs that may be customized, owners of the Dragonwing Q-6690 can add or update functionality without having to replace any hardware. This capability enables devices to remain current for years without requiring expensive redesigns, allowing users to upgrade for enhanced AI capabilities, improved camera support, expanded peripheral support, or increased performance.
The Dragonwing Q-6690 is designed for a variety of target industries, including Retail, smart buildings and enterprises, Smart Cities, supply chain and logistics, home and life appliances, and medical and healthcare devices. The Q-6690 processor has a product longevity date of 2034
