According to reports, Samsung is considering partnering with AI startup Perplexity, with plans to preload the services on future Galaxy devices starting with the Galaxy S26 series.
Bloomberg reports the deal will include preinstalling the Perplexity assistant and app across Galaxy phones and bringing its AI-powered search technology to Samsung’s browser. Furthermore, Perplexity could be integrated into Bixby, helping Samsung’s voice assistant remain relevant in the age of generative AI.
Perplexity is an AI-powered search and assistant platform that competes with more established names like Google Search and Microsoft Copilot. The app is already available in both Android and iOS versions.
Perplexity’s app and assistant would be preinstalled on Samsung phones, Samsung’s search engine would be integrated directly into Samsung Internet, and Perplexity’s technology would be embedded directly into its Bixby assistant.
Perplexity will be Samsung’s “default assistant option” on the Galaxy S26 series, but whether it will replace or complement Bixby is unclear.
