The OnePlus 15 flagship phone may launch in China in October of this year. Several recent reports speculate that the device may have a 200-megapixel periscope camera. However, according to a new leak from a reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, the camera system has yet to be finalised.

The tipster claims that OnePlus’ upcoming SM8850 flagship will feature an unspecified camera setup. According to him, OnePlus 15 is expected to come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip.

The brand is currently testing three 50-megapixel cameras: one primary camera, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto lens with about a 3x optical zoom. A standard large sensor version and an ultra-large sensor version are being considered for the primary camera. A small and medium-sized periscope sensor option is being tested for the telephoto. These setups are currently being tested with A/B tests to find the most effective combination.

The same source revealed earlier this week that the OnePlus 15 is being tested with a 1.5K flat display. OnePlus has offered a 2K curved-edge display since the OnePlus 7 Pro debuted in 2019.

Additionally to the change in display design, the OnePlus 15 is expected to introduce a new rear design. In terms of overall design, it may look similar to an iPhone. It is still unknown exactly how large the battery may be, but rumor has it that it may be over 6,500mAh, with fast charging of around 100W. It is also possible that the phone will support 50W wireless charging like its predecessor.
