There was no surprise about this, but now it’s official: Android 16 is coming to Galaxy devices “this summer.” One UI 8 has already been leaked, and tips suggest the first beta could arrive this month. Google has now confirmed this. Google announced that Android 16 will start rolling out to Samsung and other brands this summer during The Android Show, a prelude to Google I/O.

One UI 8’s beta program will likely last only a few weeks. Several Galaxy devices may be included, but it’s unclear how many. Compared to One UI 7, which was based on Android 15, it might not take long for Galaxy users to get their hands on Android 16.

Samsung is sure to kick things off with its latest flagships. Both the beta and the eventual stable release will be available for the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Flip 6. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are also expected to launch this summer, with One UI 8/Android 16 on board.

Still, don’t expect a lot of new features. Most of the significant updates to One UI 7 have already been delivered. Google’s Material 3 Expressive design will likely be integrated later this year, but we look forward to seeing it.
