Since Sony revealed the Xperia 1 VI in May of last year, the Xperia 1 VII, its successor, is most likely not far off. The following live photos of the device have been made public by the NCC, which appears to have certified this in Taiwan.

For the first time since the Xperia 1 IV, the phone will reportedly be available in at least three colourways: purple, “navy green” (likely a translation error), and black. Unsurprisingly, for Sony at least, the phone resembles its predecessor, as the CAD-based renders leaked earlier this month suggested.

The three rear cameras—a 52 MP (48 MP effective) primary camera, a 12 MP ultrawide, and a 12 MP telephoto—will all utilise Exmor T sensors, according to an interesting prior rumour. However, they will have the exact sensor sizes and resolution as the Xperia 1 VI.

Although no other specifications have been released yet, we naturally anticipate that the Snapdragon 8 Elite will be at the forefront.
