Samsung is expected to launch a ‘Slim’ variant of its Galaxy S series phone for the first time. Galaxy S25 Slim is expected to be unveiled next year. Thanks to Samsung’s new telephoto lens, it is rumoured to have a bigger zoom range than the Galaxy S25+.
Samsung’s All Lens on Prism (ALoP) telephoto zoom lens will be used on the Galaxy S25 Slim, according to a new report. It was announced last month that ISOCELL had developed this new technology. It will be showcased at the CES 2025 expo in Las Vegas, USA early next month.
Minook Kim (Staff Engineer) and Younggyu Jeong (Task Leader) explained how ALoP lenses work last week. There is a periscope prism on top of all lenses. The system consists of a 40-tilted prism reflection surface and a 10-tilted sensor assembly.
It would be impossible to fit wider lenses into a smartphone body if conventional folded zoom lenses use wider lenses. The ALoP, on the other hand, can use wider lenses due to the fact that the lenses are placed horizontally on the smartphone body. Therefore, it won’t make a phone thicker.
Earlier this month, Samsung revealed its ALoP lens had an aperture of F2.58 at a focal length of 80mm (around 3x optical zoom). Galaxy S24 Ultra’s conventional folded zoom lens is F3.4, in comparison.
With its wider aperture and slim assembly, an ALoP would be ideal for the Galaxy S25 Slim. It is rumoured that the phone will be thinner than 7mm.
