Due to their dominance of fast-charging technology and need for proprietary chargers for high-speed standards, Chinese manufacturers were initially hesitant to follow Apple’s lead. However, the V40 5G doesn’t come with a charging adapter, which is strange since it supports blazing-fast 80W charging.

Vivo V40 and Vivo S19 share identical specs. Both phones support 80W charging, but the Chinese variant comes with a charger, while the global variant does not. Also, the 8GB+256GB model doesn’t come with a case, while the 12GB+512GB model does. The global variant has a 500 mAh lower battery capacity than the Chinese version.

In comparison to the V30, the V40 looks nothing like its predecessor. There is now a large oval-shaped camera module with smaller circular housings for dual camera sensors, prominently branded with Zeiss.

In addition to the main camera setup, there is another oval cutout containing Vivo’s trademark Aura light, as well as an additional sensor that remains unclear. This phone still has the same curved-edge display and minimal bezels as the V30.

The new Vivo V40 will sport a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED flat display (2400×1080p) with 120Hz refresh rates. The Vivo V40 is now powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC coupled with 8GB/12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 2.2 storage space.

Vivo V40 features a 50MP OmniVision OV50E sensor, f/1.88 aperture with an OIS coupled with a 50MP ultra-wide sensor. On the front, it ships with a massive 50MP selfie shooter with dual soft LED flash.

The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with Dual 5G, 4G LTE, VoLTE support,  Wifi 5, A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB Type-C port. It also gets IP68 certified making dust and water-resistant.

It packs a 5500 mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. The device runs on Android 14 with OriginOS 4.0 on top. It measures 7.19mm thick and weighs 193g. The device also gets NFC and in-display fingerprint support. It comes in Stella Silver and Nebula Purple.

With a price tag of €599, it will be available in Europe starting in July.
