Today is the official announcement of the Sony Xperia event that leaked yesterday. On May 17, the “Xperia Special Event 2024” will take place at Terrada Warehouse B&C Hall. Only 100 people are invited to the event, so it’s pretty exclusive.

This event will feature a livestream, of course, to let “Xperia developers demonstrate the latest features in real-time.”

There is only one real question left to ask: Will the three models (1, 5 and 10) be announced at this event or will there be stragglers? On May 11, Sony announced the Xperia 1 V and 10 V, but the Xperia 5 V was announced in September.

It is true that the Xperia 1 and  Xperia 10 models were announced in May, but they were launched in July and June, respectively. Phones from Sony take a while to reach the market.

In both cases, the next Xperia flagship is expected to ditch the 4K screen and the 21:9 screen aspect ratio. Due to these differences, the Xperia 1 VI will be shorter and wider than its predecessor.

As per recent rumors, it should also have the same rear camera setup as the Xperia 1 V, but with software improvements – and we wouldn’t be surprised if the “AI” buzzword would be mentioned a few times, since it’s the thing of the year, after all.

As for the rest, the Xperia 1 VI should be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and have at least 12GB of RAM.
