A successor to the i9-13900KS, Intel’s flagship Core i9-14900KS desktop processor has been launched. Intel’s latest chipset supports a maximum clock speed of 6.2GHz, making it one of the fastest desktop CPUs. Additionally, gaming performance and 3D rendering have been enhanced.

There are 24 cores in the Intel Core i9-14900KS, including 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. A total of 32 threads are supported, along with 36MB of Intel Smart Cache. Based on Intel Thermal Velocity Boost, the processor supports a maximum clock speed of 6.2GHz and a base power rating of 150W.

In addition, there are 20 PCIe lanes, 16 of which are PCIe 5.0 and four of which are PCIe 4.0. Support for Expanded Intel APO offers up to 11% performance improvement. According to Intel, the new chip can improve performance by up to 73% for heavy computing tasks such as 3D rendering.

You can pair up to 192GB of DDR5 RAM with 5600 MT/s, and DDR4 RAM with 3200 MT/s. A Core i9-14900KS is compatible with motherboards Z790 and Z690. For best performance, the company recommends using the latest BIOS updates.

Both retail boxes and OEMs will be able to purchase the Intel Core i9-14900KS. It will not be long before pre-built desktops using Intel chipsets become available. Indian availability of the processor is expected to follow shortly after its release in international markets.

It costs $699 (roughly Rs 57,900) in international markets for the Intel Core i9-14900KS desktop processor. Retailers currently offer direct access to the chipset. Intel has not yet revealed the Indian pricing or availability.
