The new MacBook Air features Apple’s latest silicon. Despite its familiar design, the new model is more powerful than its predecessor. Also, there are a few minor improvements here and there in the latest models.

In addition to the 13-inch MacBook Air M3, Apple also offers a 15-inch MacBook Air M3. As opposed to the M2 Air, the Cupertino-based tech giant announced the latest generation simultaneously in two variants. With flat edges and a display notch, the newly announced offerings retain the same design.

Specs:

Two external displays can now be connected to the MacBook Air M3 13 and 15 inches instead of one. Nevertheless, this only works when the laptop lid is closed. A single external display can be connected to the Air if its screen is on. There is still a Liquid Retina screen on both models as well as a peak brightness of 500 nits.

The new MacBook Air is powered by Apple’s M3 processor, which features an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. Additionally, the Neural Engine has 16 cores. Apple calls its MacBook Air “the best consumer laptop for artificial intelligence”. As compared to the M1 model released nearly four years ago, the latest model is said to deliver 60 percent more performance. Compared to Intel-based MacBooks, it has 13x the speed. With hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing, the Air M3 also delivers a realistic gaming experience. Decoding of AV1 is also supported.

Besides the new chipset, the new MacBook Air also features WiFi-6E, which is said to offer twice the speed as previous models. In audio and video calls, there are voice isolation and wide-spectrum microphone modes. Spatial Audio, Dolby Atmos, and a 1080p Facetime camera are included on the laptops.

There are four colors available for the MacBook Air M3: midnight, starlight, space gray, and silver. With the midnight option, fingerprints that were visible on the M2 Air are now reduced through the use of an anodization seal.
