Xiaomi is testing a new smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, according to Weibo tipster DigitalChatStation. This new Qualcomm chip is expected to be featured in the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 boasts a self-developed architecture and is reported to perform better than previous generations.

The tipster indicates that mass production of the Xiaomi 15 series will begin in September. Xiaomi typically unveils its flagship phones in China in the last quarter of the year, suggesting that the Xiaomi 15 series could launch around November or December. It is expected that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip will debut earlier than usual this year, so there is the possibility of the Xiaomi 15 series launching early as well.

The Xiaomi 15 is expected to retain the 6.36-inch display size like the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14. The Xiaomi 15 Pro, on the other hand, will feature a slightly curved display with 2K resolution and just 0.6mm bezels. Display brightness is expected to reach 1400 nits and power-saving LTPO technology, which can potentially save 15-20% battery life, will be used. Details about the upcoming flagships are still being kept under wraps.
