Apple’s iPhone lineup is rumored to get a size shift in 2024, with the iPhone 16 Pro models receiving a larger display.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will feature displays measuring roughly 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. It represents a significant increase over the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max’s current 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays.

As a result of the increase in display size, overall dimensions have increased slightly. Both Pro models will be marginally taller and wider than their 2023 counterparts while maintaining the same thickness.

Several implications could result from this size shift. As a result of the larger form factor, Apple may be able to incorporate bigger batteries to improve battery life, a common request from users. Additionally, the increased display area may allow for display improvements or other improvements.

The Pro models seem to be the only ones to receive these size changes. Apple’s iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are expected to retain their current 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. With the 2025 iPhone 17 lineup, Apple could introduce the larger 6.27-inch and 6.85-inch displays to its standard iPhone models. All iPhones may also shift to a 19.6:9 aspect ratio.

These details are based on current rumors and leaks, so take them with a grain of salt. Apple will likely launch the iPhone 16 series in September, as usual, so it has time to make changes. The change in display size for the Pro models does suggest an interesting development for Apple’s iPhone strategy.
