Bloomberg reported last week that Apple had paused the development of iOS 18 and macOS 15 in order to prioritize bug fixes. As opposed to adding new features, Apple asked its employees to fix flaws and improve performance. According to Bloomberg, iOS 18 will be the biggest update for the iPhone in years, according to a recent development.

Additionally, Apple will bring generative AI to iPhones with its upcoming software, which is on track to catch up with Google and OpenAI. According to the report, since Apple won’t be making any hardware changes for the new iPhone 16 series, software will be the key to selling the device. The iOS 18 will also offer a variety of new features, designs, and security and performance improvements according to Apple’s senior management internally.

Also, Apple is paying more attention than ever to the quality of its upcoming software. Craig Federighi, Apple’s head of software engineering, adopted a new policy in 2019 that read: “We will never intentionally allow regressions in the build.”. It means in simple words that if a new feature causes a bug, it will be fixed immediately when we find it.

As of now, it is unclear which new features Apple plans to implement in its next iOS release. Next year, Apple will release iOS 18 at its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC).
