With the release of Android 14, smartphone manufacturers are already working on their next-generation UIs. It’s expected that Xiaomi will unveil MIUI 15 in the coming months. A reliable tipster has revealed that Xiaomi plans to skip MIUI 15 altogether and launch a brand new operating system called MiOS instead.

Xiaomi is considering MIUI 14 as the “last major version” of the MIUI series, according to the tipster Digital Chat Station. It is instead developing a completely new OS from scratch.

Digital Chat Station reported a few months back that Xiaomi was developing its own operating system that would be compatible with AOSP (Android Open Source Project) and could run on smartphones, tablets, and wearables. MiOS is likely to be the rumored OS.

Also in the Weibo post, he expressed his hopes for Xiaomi’s new system, saying that “MIUI 14’s basic experience is already top-notch, but the dynamic effects are still lacking.”. May the new work completely eliminate this shortcoming! ” Furthermore, he clarified that MIUI 15 would not be renamed MiOS.

Xiaomi also registered “mios.cn” in November 2022, suggesting that a new interface might be in the works. The website currently shows a 403 error and doesn’t have an SSL certificate.

Whether or when MiOS will emerge is yet to be seen, but one leak after another suggests Xiaomi is planning major changes to its software ecosystem. Please stay tuned for updates.
