Today, Sony announced the Xperia 5 V. It has a revamped camera system that loses the telephoto lens but gains a larger main sensor.


The new Xperia 5 V reminds us of the Xperia 1 V as it looks similar to it. It features dual-rear cameras aligned vertically. It comes with a premium metal chassis with a glossy glass back. The Sony Xperia 5 V will also feature a microSD card slot along with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5 mm audio jack. It measures 8.6 mm thick and weighs 186g. The Sony Xperia 5 V comes in Black, Blue, and Platinum Silver colors.


The new Sony Xperia 5 V will sport the 6.1-inch FHD+ HDR OLED panel on the front. Do note that the FHD+ panel will even come with a 120Hz refresh rate along with HDR10+ and 10bit color depth support. It also features TRILUMINOS Display for mobile, X-Reality for mobile, and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the front and back of the device.

The new Sony Xperia 5 V is powered by SD 8 Gen 2 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage space. It also gets MicroSD card support.


It will feature dual-rear cameras with 52MP (f/1.9) 1/1.35″Exmor T main lens coupled with 12MP 1/2.5” Exmor RS ultra-wide with f/2.3 aperture along with a ZEISS T* Coating. The device comes with 16mm ultra-wide, 24mm wide, and 48mm telephoto.

The rear camera can record 4K HDR movies recording 24, 25, 30, 60, and 120fps slow-motion.  There is a  1/2.9” Exmor sensor 12MP selfie camera on the front.

It runs on Android 13 OS with Sony UI on top. It also features IP65/68 rating which makes the device dust and water-resistant. All this is packed with a 5000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging &  Qi Wireless charging support.

The connectivity option includes Dual SIM with 4G, 5G, LTE, and VoLTE support, Wifi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, A-GPS, NFC, GLONASS, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The device comes with stereo speakers with DSEE HX, LDAC, and Dolby Atmos support.

The source reveals that the Sony Xperia 5 V will set you back with a price tag of 999 Euros (Rs.89,800/-). It will go on sale later this month.
