Sony Xperia 1 V rumors have been circulating, and Geekbench identified a mysterious model with model number XQ-DQ72. On Geekbench last month, there was another model with the model number XQ-DT72 showing 12GB RAM. The new model XQ-DQ72 is believed to be a high-end model equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset and 16GB of RAM, according to Sumahodigest and Reddit.

According to leaked benchmark results, the XQ-DQ72 could have significantly more RAM than its predecessor, the Xperia 5 IV, which had 8GB. This new Xperia device, however, doesn’t seem to be simply a successor to the Xperia 5 IV, as the memory upgrade seems too significant.

The XQ-DQ72 may be the Xperia 1 V, while others believe it may be a gaming or special edition of the Xperia 1 V or even a completely new device. In a recent leak, the rear panel and Periscope Zoom camera of the Xperia 1 V were shown.

The Xperia 1 IV was launched in China in June and entered the US market in September. As with the Xperia 1 III, it took over two-and-a-half months for the device to reach the US and UK from China. It is reported that Sony is ahead of schedule with the testing phase of the Xperia 1 V compared to its predecessor in 2022. In a best-case scenario, the phone might launch in April 2023.
