A new Chromecast is on its way from Google. TecnoBlog obtained images of a new, cheaper Chromecast that looks exactly like the Chromecast with Google TV. At major US retailers, it currently retails for $50 but is currently discounted by $10 as of this post.
Despite looking identical to the Chromecast with Google TV launched in 2020, it has a different model number: G454V. FCC certification has already been completed for this model, and it is rumored to be different internally. A 2GB RAM and Amlogic S805X2 chip will power this unreleased Chromecast. While it won’t be as powerful as the 4K model, it will support up to 1080p output resolution.
According to WinFuture, this cheaper Chromecast will also come with a voice remote. In addition to the Pixel Watch and Pixel 7, this new lower-cost Chromecast could launch during Google’s October 6 event. Rumor has it that more Nest Home devices will be released as well.
A new entry-level Chromecast may be introduced at the same $30 price point as this low-cost Chromecast.
