BlackBerry has finally announced the codenamed device Athena as BlackBerry KEY2. Earlier we had got few renders leaked for the new BlackBerry KEY2 and finally, the device is officially launched in the US. The new BlackBerry KEY2 will come in Black and Silver colors and is priced at $649 (Rs.43,500/-) in the US, 649 Euros (Rs.51,200/-) in Europe, £579 (Rs.52,100/-) in the UK and $829 (Rs.42,900/-) in Canada. The BlackBerry KEY2 will go on sale globally from this month.
The new BlackBerry KEY2 comes with premium metal built with a matte finish keyboard and textured back. The new BlackBerry KEY2 features traditional QWERTY keyboard with backlight and also responds to touch-based gestures as it comes with capacitive touch. The fingerprint scanner is located on the space bar and also comes with Speed Key feature which launches apps based on assigned keys.
The BlackBerry KEY2 weighs around 168 grams and is 8.5 mm thick. The new BlackBerry KEY2 sports 4.5 inches 1620*1080p 3:2 display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by the SD660 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage which can be expanded via microSD cards up to 2TB.
The BlackBerry KEY2 features dual rear cameras with the 12MP primary sensor having an aperture of f/1.8, 1.14µm pixel size, 79.3-degree wide-angle lens, and 12MP secondary sensor with f/2.6, 1.14µm pixel size, 79.3-degree wide-angle lens, Dual PDAF, and Dual Tone Dual LED flash. It features 8MP selfie camera.
The connectivity option includes Single SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE support, Dual Band Wifi, Bluetooth 5.0, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C port, 3.5 mm audio port, FM Radio, and HD Audio. The BlackBerry KEY2 runs on Android 8.1 and is fueled by 3360 mAh battery support for QC 3.0.
